Flashy acquisition board

Description

Flashy is a fast analog acquisition board.
It is typically used with an FPGA board to create a digital oscilloscope.

Here's a view of Flashy with a BNC connector. The bottom board is a Pluto-II. The combination makes a one-channel 100MSPS (mega-samples-per-seconds) oscilloscope.

Flashy versions/revisions
Flashy is available with one or two analog inputs:
  • Flash/Flashy: one analog input.
  • FlashyD: two analog inputs.
Flashy is available in three speed grades:
  • 60MSPS (works from 20MHz to 70MHz typical).
  • 100MSPS (works from 20MHz to 125MHz typical).
  • 200MSPS (works from 10MHz to 230MHz typical).
Flashy is available in several revisions, depending on how the V-pos/V-range are controlled, and if a period output is present.

Flashy rev. HPOTPOT Yes
Flashy rev. JDACDAC -
New! Flashy rev. K/LPOT & DACPOT & DACYes

Legend:

  • POT = potentiometer control (requires the use of a small screwdriver)
  • DAC = digital control

For more details, see the Flashy datasheet here.

Flashy software
Software called FlashyMini and FlashyDemo are included with most KNJN FPGA boards.
  • FlashyMini: minimalist design provided with source code to retrieve data from Flashy to the PC.
  • FlashyDemo: digital oscilloscope with GUI (click on the picture below for a bigger view).
